10China Silk Road Group and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development(UNCTAD) signed a cooperation agreement in Geneva on 10 July, promising to cooperate in the field of cross-border e-commerce and work together to protect consumer rights and interests.
According to the agreement, the two sides will jointly develop online dispute resolution suitable for cross-border e-commerce and use block chain technology to build a certificate and evidence platform for cross-border e-commerce, thus reducing the difficulty of dispute arbitration and protecting consumer rights and interests more effectively. Among them, the China Silk Road Group will provide the technical support needed for programmes such as block chain technology, while UNCTAD will provide corresponding legal support.
At the signing ceremony, the Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Muxisa, expressed appreciation for China's efforts to promote consumer protection in the area of electronic commerce. He expressed the hope that the new technology in the plan could be put into use as soon as possible and that China could help developing countries develop trade more.
Yanlijin, chairman of China Silk Road Group, said that cross-border e-commerce faces a complex global market environment, such as differences in consumer preferences, infrastructure, market structure, and legal systems. How to protect consumer rights and interests has also become a challenge for the healthy development of cross-border e-commerce. Establishing reliable confidence mechanisms is the key to solving the problem.
