The five-day "Davos agenda" dialogue of the world economic forum ended at sunset on January 29, but the discussion on the future of the world economy in the post epidemic era did not end. While striving to control the epidemic, it is generally regarded as an urgent task to restore world economic growth and rebuild a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable world economy. During the five-day "Davos agenda" dialogue, all parties reached broad consensus on calling for new multilateralism and strengthening multilateral cooperation.

At present, the global economy is facing multiple challenges. In the short term, it is imperative to control the rapid spread of the global epidemic. If the epidemic situation is not controlled, the economy cannot recover and growth cannot be restored, not only the old contradictions cannot be solved, but new contradictions will also break out. In the medium and long term, the risks of climate change, global debt, geopolitical tension and lack of sustainable growth mode are long-term challenges to be vigilant, which will hinder the development of global economy in the future.

These global challenges can only be solved at the global level, and can not be completely reversed by a single country.

Whether it is dealing with global challenges or seizing new opportunities for future economic development, upholding and practicing multilateralism, strengthening global multilateral dialogue and cooperation, and uniting forces, it will produce greater positive forces. On the contrary, under the heavy pressure of the epidemic situation and the economy, either sweeping the snow in front of the door, or advocating ideological prejudice, engaging in division and decoupling, or increasing protection and forming constraints in the economic and trade fields will delay the recovery process of the global economy and form centrifugal force on Sustainable development. This fact has been revealed in the first half of the global anti epidemic campaign.

Both the grim reality and the more complex problems need multilateralism to return to the right path. The International Monetary Fund pointed out that the global economic uncertainty reached an unprecedented level at the beginning of the outbreak. Although it has dropped by about 60% from the peak, it is still about 50% higher than the historical average of 1996-2010. Even the most developed economies face an uncertain road to recovery. At this time, all countries should work together to tide over the difficulties.

After the outbreak of the epidemic, countries have introduced more relaxed monetary policies and expansionary fiscal policies, which makes it more difficult to coordinate global macroeconomic policies in the future. We should not only form joint forces to achieve more sustainable and ideal stimulus effect, but also control the timing and strength of policy to avoid huge spillover effect on the market. This means that in the future, it is particularly necessary for international economic policy coordination and cooperation to form consensus and joint efforts.

In the field of economy and trade, in order to restore the pulling effect of trade on the economy, it is urgent for all countries to reverse the tendency of sanctions, interruption of supply and protection, and reduce the artificial constraints on international trade; in the field of science and technology, it is necessary to make science and technology truly become the driving force of the world economy, strengthen innovation and cooperation, reduce disputes and deadlocks, and recognize the harm of decoupling.

With the acceleration of profound changes in the global pattern, it is urgent for the international community to think about global governance and multilateralism in an innovative way to meet the new needs.

In the post epidemic era, it is very urgent to reshape a new multilateral trade system that can cope with the contemporary crisis, which will help to deal with international economic and trade frictions, maintain free trade, reduce trade costs, and ensure a rational trade order.

In the post epidemic era, digitalization and green growth are new opportunities for human beings. From a more long-term perspective, the world needs to explore the formulation of global digital governance rules, implement the Paris agreement to deal with climate change, implement the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development, explore new ways of sustainable growth, and reduce the deep dependence on debt.

In an increasingly interconnected world, we can also explore the use of networking to promote multilateralism, so that global and regional organizations can communicate with each other and solve global challenges.

The world is facing novel coronavirus pneumonia without any preparedness. It will inevitably lead to crooked roads and make mistakes. Only by adhering to the core values and basic principles of multilateralism, and based on the changes in the world pattern, let multilateralism stick to its principles, keep pace with the times, and build a new type of international cooperation, can we truly achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and accelerate the recovery of the world economy.
